Fort Portal is a town located in Western Uganda. It is the main city in the Kabarole district and the Kingdom of Torus. It is approximately 320 kilometers from Kampala, the country’s capital and largest city.
According to the 2002 census, the city had 41,000 inhabitants. In 2011, the estimated population was 47,100 inhabitants. In August 2014, the national population census indicated that the population was 54,275 inhabitants.

How to access the place?
Kalita bus and Link bus have a connection from Kampala to Fort Portal that go via Mubende which takes 5 to 6 hours. The road is fine with an asphalt surface. Mubende is found around halfway between Kampala and Fort Portal and there you can buy food and drink and also you can fill up petrol.
Best time to visit:
The best times of the year to visit Fort Portal for hot-weather activities are from the beginning of June until the end of September and from the beginning of December until the end of January.
