Itinerary

Maun Airport to Maun 19.2km

 

Accommodation:Thamalakane River Lodge, Maun / Similar

Clients will be picked up at the Airport and depart to their accommodation in Maun. This area attractions include a renowned riverboat that offers cruises up and down the Thamalakane River; the forest groves of the Maun Game Reserve; and Moremi Game Reserve, home to hippos, lions and rhinos. After checking in and freshening up the client/s will depart in the afternoon for a Mokoro Excursion (for 2 hours) After this activity clients will get back and the lodge and get ready for Dinner.

Maun Area

 

Accommodation: Thamalakane River Lodge, Maun / Similar

Clients will have breakfast and then go on the Game Drive. Clients will view some of the Africa’s wildlife and can have several stops to take pictures and explore. Clients will be back around lunch and after lunch have leisure time to rest.

Overnight: Thamalakane River Lodge
Thamalakane River Lodge is ideally located an easy 20-minute drive from Maun Airport en route to the famous Moremi Game Reserve. It is a secluded haven of tranquillity nestled in a grove of mature riverine trees on the bank of the Thamalakane River. The rambling lodge has an idyllic setting and is committed to service excellence.

Character en-suite stone chalets, some with private splash pools are positioned in the shade of the riverine forest, overlooking the river. All chalets and common areas have terraces that take advantage of the serene 180-degree view of the riverbanks lined with fluttering reeds visited by an ever changing array of water fowl and birds.

It is a delightful place to come home to after a day spent exploring.


Maun to Khwai Community Area 123.7 km

After breakfast the clients will depart Sango Safari Camp which is situated in the Moremi. Throughout the drive clients will have the opportunity to see and take pictures of animals rooming freely.

The Khwai area of the Okavango lies along the northern boundary of the Moremi Game Reserve. This is an unfenced boundary allowing wildlife to move freely between the woodlands in the wet season when water is plentiful and back to permanent rivers and lagoons in the dry season.

Khwai Community Area

Clients will have breakfast and then can watch ladies weaving baskets in the village and observe carpenters at work, as well as visit the local curio shop where all the baskets and woodcarvings are available for sale.

Nata

Situated 180 kilometres north of Francistown, the small village of Nata is a popular stopover between Maun and Kasane along a road known as the ‘game drive route’ as there is often a chance to catch a glimpse of wildlife along the way. The unique landscape that surrounds the area around Nata features white sand, tall termite mounds and the Mokolwane palm trees. Nata is a convenient stop for tourists to fill up at numerous filling station. Nata serves as an excellent base from which to explore the eastern section of the spectacular Makgadikgadi Pans. The Nata Sanctuary is a popular stop and a highlight for avid bird watchers, where lucky visitors can be rewarded with large flocks of Flamingos and Pelicans, which breed here each year.

Overnight: Nata Lodge
An oasis set among the Mokolwane palms on the edge of the pans. It is ideally situated close to the entrance to the Nata Sanctuary and is just off the main road, 10 km from Nata village. This is the junction to the Okavango, Chobe and Francistown areas.

The Nata River delta feeds the Sua Pan in the Nata sanctuary and forms the breeding ground for a host of water birds including pelicans and flamingo in their thousands, transforming the shore line into a pink haze blending into the western sky. Nata Lodge offers guided tours in open safari vehicles into the sanctuary, not to be missed.


Nata to Chobe River Front 310km

Clients will have a game drive throughout Chobe and its beautiful landscape across the challenging Magwikwe Sand point, which was the shoreline of the ancient inland sea, visit the Makgadikgadi Lake. Its deep sand, so in the wet season, it becomes impassable. After arrival clients will check in and prepare for dinner.

Chobe River Front

 

Accommodation: River View Lodge, Chobe River Front/ Similar

Clients will wake up for breakfast and then have a full day game drive in the Chobe National Park. Expected animals to see are lion, wild dog, cheetah, leopard, giraffe, bushbuck, blue wildebeest, and huge numbers of hippo.

Clients will return around 17h00 after a long day of game viewing and will have a goodnight sleep after long day.

After arrival clients will go on the game drive and get back for dinner.
