Itinerary

Day 1: Harnas Wildlife Foundation, Kalahari North (From Windhoek Capital

Before heading to Harnas Wildlife Foundation the clients will have a city tour in Windhoek nad then head the roads at 10h30 to Harnas.

Harnas- Kalahari North

Situated east of the capital city of Windhoek, the area of the Kalahari North can be found in the northeastern reaches of Namibia. The expansive Kalahari Desert spans over seven countries, some of which include: South Africa, Botswana, and Namibia. The Okavango River Delta forms part of the northern region of the desert creating an array of waterways and wetlands which support an abundant variety of wildlife. The northern central region is home to ancient dry riverbeds called ‘omuramba’. Kalahari North is blanketed in endemic acacia- camelthorn trees, ephemeral rivers, a fossil watercourse and boasts a reasonably regular rainfall, making it the ideal habitat to support fauna and flora. Visitors can enjoy a comfortable stay at one of many lodges and guest farms dotting the area and explore the pristine landscape.

Day 2-3: Maun Rest Camp, Maun

Maun

Set on the banks of the beautiful Thamalakane River in northern Botswana, Maun is the third largest town in this spectacularly scenic southern African country. Maun is the starting point for most expeditions into the Okavango Delta and as a result, has developed into a bustling metropolis that is considered Botswana’s tourism capital. Area attractions include a renowned riverboat that offers cruises up and down the Thamalakane River; the forest groves of the Maun Game Reserve; and Moremi Game Reserve, home to hippos, lions and rhinos. Maun also serves as the jumping off point for many safaris and air charters as well as offers 4×4 rentals. Don’t miss the Nhabe Museum exhibiting the local history, art and culture of the Ngamiland region.

Overnight: Maun Rest Camp

Set in a shady riverside garden Maun Rest Camp focuses on travelers looking for a self drive venue with spacious self drive campsites that have fireplaces and power points. The camp is situated on the banks of the Thamalakane. The camp’s furnished tents are all carpeted and feature comfortable beds. Maun Rest Camp also offers free WI-FI access.

Bush Walk

The Matobo National Park forms the core of the Matobo or Matopos Hills, an area of granite kopjes and wooded valleys commencing some 35 kilometers south of Bulawayo along the Kezi/Maphisa road. Matobo covers an area of 43 200 hectares. The magnificent, rugged terrain of the park is a hikers paradise and the diversity of the vegetation supports a wide range of wildlife.

Day 4: Chobe Game Lodge, Chobe River Front

Chobe River Front

The Chobe River forms the northern boundary of the Chobe National Park, renowned for its diverse and abundant game viewing opportunities. This section of the park is best known for its dense concentration of wildlife including elephant and hippo populations, but the waters attract all manner of game including large herds of buffalo and the lions that prey on them. A visit to this area guarantees close encounters with an array of African wildlife. Visitors can look forward to some exciting activities such as: driving along the game-dotted river banks in a 4WD; cruising along the river in a motorboat, spotting rare birdlife and for a unique, luxury safari experience, hire a houseboat.

Overnight: Chobe Game Lodge

Counter-balancing the wilderness are restful, air conditioned, en-suite lodgings. Graceful high arches, quarry tiled floors and barrel vaulted ceilings create an atmosphere of cool tranquillity. Other facilities include a large swimming pool with terrace, a riverside boma area, a stylish bar with an outside terrace, an expansive deck offering magnificent views over the Chobe River as well as conference facilities for business travellers. All meals are catered for in various locations throughout the lodge including the terrace, boma and riverfront deck. Chobe Safari Lodge Boat Cruises

Chobe Boat Cruises are a wonderful way to experience the Chobe National Park. Herds of elephants can be seen crossing the Chobe river into the island which is a spectacular sight to witness. Other animal species such as hippos and crocodiles can be seen lounging in the sun by the riverside. The boat cruises are available in a number of different options. The standard cruise boards approximately 30-40 people. The bigger boats feature a bar on board for refreshments while the smaller boats are perfect for bird watching. Boat cruises depart from the town of Kasane at either the morning or afternoon departures. A private boat cruise can be arranged for alternate times.

Day 6-7: Victoria Falls Rest Camp, Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

Resting on the southern banks of the Zambezi River at the western end of the eponymous falls, this popular tourist town is compact enough to walk around and makes an ideal base for travellers exploring the seventh wonder of the world, the unfathomably vast Victoria Falls. About two thirds of the falls can be viewed from the Zimbabwean side and, while the falls are undoubtedly the star attraction, the area provides both adventure seekers and sightseers with plenty of opportunities to warrant a longer stay. Popular activities include scenic flights over the falls in helicopters or micro lights, bungee jumping off the Victoria Falls Bridge, white-water rafting (seasonal), and day trips to Chobe National Park. The town itself offers some excellent accommodation and restaurant options as well as an eclectic variety of African curios and authentic art sold by friendly Zimbabwean locals who are wonderfully welcoming and eager to help you enjoy your stay.

Victoria Falls Self Catering and Camping Accommodation at the Vic Falls Restcamp is the best budget accommodation available in the Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. The Rest Camp is situated right in the middle of Victoria Falls town in Zimbabwe making it a perfect place to be based with all amenities within walking distance. The Restcamp is only 2 km from the falls making it the closest campsite to the Victoria Falls. The security around the camp is a top priority with high stainless steel fences and electric fences making it first-class. Day 6: Moremi Game Reserve Area to Chobe National Park 254 km

Clients will have a game drive throughout Chobe to their campsite in Chobe, Clients will have a picnic lunch on the road. Overnight: Savuti Campsite

Recognised as a prime game viewing area, the Savuti covers almost 1,930 sq. miles (5,000 square km) in the south west of Chobe National Park. Parts of Savuti are almost desert-like with a scorching sun and hot sand, while at the other extreme are vast grassy plains.

Savuti is well known for its elephants, lions and hyenas, all of which visit the lodge area, making for an experience not to be forgotten! Listening to the night sounds of Savuti is an unforgettable experience. Apart from being one of Africa’s prime game viewing areas, Savuti is also stunningly beautiful, with rocky outcrops, and rolling grassland interspersed with dead trees. In 2009 the Savuti channel began flowing again – the first time in 30 years. In February 2010 the channel had reached the marsh, transforming the area and bringing new life. The Savuti area is now returning to its former glory – when it was known as one of the key wildlife areas in Botswana.

This campsite offers large camping sites with running water (not drinking water) on every campsite. In the centre of the campsite is an elephant proof complex which houses the ablutions, showers and washing basins.
