Offering that postcard of wild nature that you have seen so many times in the documentaries and how well it characterizes East Africa. Located in the very heart of the region of the great lakes. It is located on a 1,000-meter high plateau. Also, it is surrounded by imposing elevations that favors the agricultural activity of its people.
Kibale National Park is one of the most visited places by tourists. Also, it is the best place for chimpanzee trekking in Uganda. Earlier, this park was called as Kibale Forest NP.
In the Kibale National Park, 13 primates species have been recorded, which is the highest number ever for any Uganda park. Numerous monkeys can be seen usually on forest walks. Also, butterflies and birds are abundant.
This park was gazetted in the year 1932 and established formally in the year 1993 to protect a wide area of forest which was managed as a logged forest reserve earlier. This park forms a continuous forest with Queen Elizabeth National Park. This adjoins of both parks create a 180 kilometers wildlife corridor. This is an important safari and ec0-tourism spot. It is mainly popular for its large population of chimpanzees and 12 other species of primates. This park is also the location of the Makerere University Biological Field Stations.
The forest of this park is covering predominates int eh northern and central parts of the national park on the raised Fort Portal plateau. The northern tip of this park is the highest and stands 1590 meters above the sea level.
Kibale Forest National Park is also considered to be the best safari destination in Africa for chimpanzee tracking. It has a 12 km hike and normally done in the dry seasons. During hiking, you will discover the park’s assorted habitats and river line forest, tropical rainforest, grassland, and swamp.
You can also visit Bigodi which is a top birder spot. It is mainly popular for wildlife such as red colobus, chimpanzees, black and white colobus, bushbuck, mongoose, and red-tailed monkey. There are about 138 bird species that are worth watching.

How to access the place?
Entebbe International Airport is the entrance of this country. It is situated 46 km/29 miles from the Kampala which is the capital of Uganda. In most cases, the local tour operator will provide a pick up facility.
Best time to visit:
The best time to visit Kibale National Park is the drier months of December to February and also June to July are best for chimpanzee trekking.
