Queen Elizabeth National Park:

Queen Elizabeth National Park is a protected area that constitutes the most visited game reserve in the African country of Uganda.

The national park is located in western Uganda, covering the districts of Kasese, Kamwenge, Bushenyi, and Rukungiri. It is located about 376 kilometers, by road, southwest of Kampala, the capital of Uganda and the largest city in the country.

The city of Kasese is located near the northeast bank of the park, while the city of Bushenyi, It is located on the outskirts of the southeast boundaries of the park.

It is situated close to Mountain Rwenzori, the national park’s sites include many beautiful crates lakes which winding through the rolling hills. It has the panoramic display of the Kazinga Channel with an incredible view of the elephants, buffaloes, hippos, and numerous bird species.

Since 1952, this incredible park has attracted both nationals of the host country and foreign travelers, thanks to the diversity of wildlife, stunning landscapes, and volcanic craters.

Besides the remarkable wildlife attractions, this national park also has an attractive heritage and cultural history. It will be several opportunities for tourists and travelers to visit the local population who are welcoming and entertaining in terms of cultural dances and local music.

It is widely recognized for having the highest concentration of hippos in the world. Queen Elizabeth National Park also houses chimpanzees and a variety of antelope species. Visitors who venture to the Ishasha River Camp will find dozens of elephants living in the surrounding grasslands and a few lucky ones will even be able to see the King of the Jungle relaxing on the branches of African shade trees.

In addition to the hunting units, visitors will find the landscapes of this vast park truly memorable, thanks to diverse terrains, which include winding rivers, crater lakes, volcanic peaks, dense forests, and vast savannas.

How to access the place?

You can access this national park from Kampala which is a 6-hour drive through Masaka, Mbarara and Bushenyi towns to Kasese. If you want to take another route to access, you can take the route from Kampala to Mityana, through Mubende then Fort Portal town to Kasese Town. It will be around 360 km.

Best time to visit:

The best time to visit Queen Elizabeth National Park in June and August. January, February, August, and September are considered to be the best months ever.

The high seasons are July and June. Low season runs through March to May and October to December which is wet seasons.
