Then there is abit of culture whereby you will be able to visit the Himba Tribe,San Tribe and Damara Tribe. Day 1: Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch, Mariental or similar /camping

 

 

Mariental

Situated in south central Namibia, fringing the Kalahari Desert, the city of Mariental lies along the TransNam ib

railway and serves as the Hardap Region’s commercial and administrative capital. It provides an important petrol

stop before heading west to Sesriem to view the red-orange dunes of Sossusvlei. Mariental is located close to

magnificent the Hardap Dam, which is the largest reservoir in Namibia. The Hardap Irrigation Scheme has breathed

life into this arid terrain, which is now fertile with farmlands covered in citrus, melons, lucerne, wine and maize, and

dotted with ostrich farms. The dam is a popular holiday resort which draws city slickers from Windhoek and offers an

array of watersports, scenic walks, and abundant wildlife in a 20000-hectare nature reserve set on its western bank;

where visitors can spot rhino, ostrich, antelope, springbok and a variety of bird species.

Luderitz
Sandwiched between the rugged and stark Atlantic Coast and the arid Namib Desert, the town of Luderitz is set in an

incredibly unique geographical setting. This seaside town is something of an anomaly frozen in time – a piece of

19th-century Bavaria bordering the pinkish sand dunes of the Namib Desert. Lutheran churches, German bakeries,

and colonial buildings boasting German art nouveau architecture are dotted about the settlement, while its

windswept beaches are home to flamingos, ostriches, seals and penguins. The nearby ghost town of Kolmanskop,

which has been taken over by the desert dunes, is one of the most fascinating area attractions, located

Day 4: Desert Homestead Horse Trails, Sossusvlei or similar

 

 

Sossusvlei

Located in the scenic Namib-Naukluft National Park, Sossusvlei is where you will find the iconic red sand dunes of the

Namib. The clear blue skies contrast with the giant red dunes to make this one of the most scenic natural wonders of

Africa and a photographer’s heaven. This awe-inspiring destination is possibly Namibia’s premier attraction, with its

unique dunes rising to almost 400 metres-some of the highest in the world. These iconic dunes come alive in

morning and evening light and draw photography enthusiasts from around the globe. Sossusvlei is home to a variety

desert wildlife including oryx, springbok, ostrich and a variety of reptiles. Visitors can climb ‘Big Daddy’, one of

Sossusvlei’s tallest dunes; explore Deadvlei, a white, salt, claypan dotted with ancient trees; or for the more

extravagant, scenic flights and hot air ballooning are on offer, followed by a once -in-a-lifetime champagne breakfast

amidst these majestic dunes.

The Desert Homestead Lodge is well-known for its guided trail rides in the Namib desert. Morning and evening trail

rides may spontaneously be booked in the lodge.

Horse riding safaris lasting several days can be booked by experienced riders as well as beginners. Spending the night

in a romantic tent camp around a campfire under the starry sky of the Namib desert will be an unforgettable

experience. Trail rides with overnight stays have to be booked at least one week in advance.

Day 7: Galton House, Windhoek

 

 

Windhoek

Situated in Central Namibia, the cosmopolitan city of Windhoek serves as the capital of the country. It is home to an

international airport and a plethora of restaurants, shops, entertainment venues and accommodation options. The

city is clean, safe and well-organised, with a colonial legacy that is reflected in its many German eateries and shops,

and the widespread use of the German language. Windhoek has an interesting mix of historical architecture and

modern buildings, many of which are worth a look, including the Alte Feste an old fort, the 1896 Christuskirche

Christ Church, and the more contemporary Supreme Court.

Overnight: Galton House

Named after the famous explorer Sir Francis Galton, it has a relaxed but efficient style which creates a very

welcoming atmosphere. Impressive wildlife photography adorns the walls whilst the rest of the interior is a

combination of modern minimalist and understated chic.

A mere ten minute drive from the centre of town and perched on the edge of Windhoek’s northernmost affluent

suburb of Eros, guests staying here will be ensured of peace and tranquillity. There is Wi -Fi throughout the property

and the nine guest rooms all have wireless and wired internet connectivity as well as satellite television. The room s

also have stocked coffee/tea stations.

The communal areas consist of a large lounge, indoor and outdoor dining areas, a swimming pool, an early

arrival/late departure day room (including toilet, shower, changing and re -packing facility) as well as understated

garden areas. There is also a delightful ‘al fresco’ dining area by the pool where freshly prepared and very tasty

meals are served (including lunch and dinner). A number of shops, restaurants and supermarkets are within easy

Day 8: Okonjima Plains Camp, Okonjima Nature Reserve or similar

 

 

Okonjima Nature Reserve

Midway between the spectacular Etosha National Park and the capital city of Windhoek, lies the well-known

Okonjima Nature Reserve. The 22 000 ha nature reserve is home to AfriCAT, a carnivore sanctuary, which gives the

captive cats a second chance to be released back into the wild and become completely independent hunters in a

protected area right in the middle of commercial cattle farmland. Visitors can enjoy a stay at a variety of excellent

accommodation options including everything from luxury villas to secluded camping. Enjoy thrilling cat tracking

guided safaris, leopard-spotting, off-road night drives and learn about local San culture along the Bushmen trail.

Plains Camp honours the Hanssen’s family cattle-farming heritage with its three-tier accommodation facility of 10

wilderness area of Okonjima Nature Reserve and has majestic sunset views. Its design honours the Hanssen’s family

Okonjima was a cattle farm since the early 1920s that was bought by Brahman breeders Val (VJ) and Rose Hanssen in

1970. By the time Namibia gained its independence in early 1990, they needed to address increasing livestock losses

and growing interest in Namibia as a tourist destination. Three years later their herds of Brahman and Jersey cattle

were sold and Okonjima’s attention turned to recovering the grass plains and transforming it into a nature reserve,

with a primary focus on carnivore conservation through The AfriCat Foundation. Today it’s a luxurious African safari

destination in the heart of Namibia that’s ideal for wildlife photography and famed for its cheetah, brown hyena and

leopard sightings.

Day 9: Namutoni Resort, Etosha East or similar

 

 

Etosha East

Located in Northwestern Namibia, Etosha East is a protected sanctuary in the eastern part of the world -renowned

Etosha National Park, known as one of the most accessible game reserves in Southern Africa. Etosha East boasts vast

open plains scattered with semi-arid savannah grasslands dotted with watering holes and secluded bush camps. An

impressive 5000-square-kilometre Etosha salt pan makes up a large area of the eastern side of the park and can even

be seen from space. This remote area teems with abundant wildlife such as lions, elephants, black rhinos and

giraffes, as well as a variety of birdlife featuring flamingos, ostriches, eagles, hornbills, and owls.

The lodge centres on an old German Fort overlooking the King Nehale waterhole; an elevated decked walkway

provides excellent opportunities for enjoying the surrounding scenery, wildlife and the spectacular sunsets. The Fort

has been developed into a hub of activity, offering two restaurants, a relaxation lounge, a bar, crafts boutique, curio

shop, jewellers and bookstore. Accommodation is provided in comfortable double rooms or bush chalets. Camping is

Day 10: Okaukuejo Campsite, Etosha South or similar

 

 

Etosha South

Located just south of the boundary of Etosha National Park in northwestern Namibia, Etosha South makes up the

southern region of this wild paradise. Ogava Private Game Reserve shares the southern boundary with Etosha

National Park and offers an array of luxury lodges overlooking picturesque landscapes dotted with abundant wildlife.

The national park can be accessed via the southern entrance at Andersson’s Gate. Visitors can catch a glimpse of a

variety of wildlife including: lion, giraffe, elephant, white and black rhino, and a multitude of plains game. Popular

activities include: game drives, tracking rhinos on foot, guided nature walks, or watch the sunset over this

magnificent landscape.

Overnight: Okaukuejo Campsite

Okaukuejo is located 17 km from the southern entrance of the park, Anderson Gate. Okaukuejo is the oldest tourist

camp in Etosha and it also functions as the administrative centre of the park. Okaukuejo is also home to the Etosha

Ecological Institute. It is situated at the western end of the Etosha Pan. Facilities include a restaurant, bar, shop,

swimming pool, kiosk and camp sites.

The main attraction of this camp is that it overlooks a permanent waterhole which is floodlit at night. Here a wide

diversity of wildlife congregate and interact from lion to rhino to elephant and antelope. The spectacle starts at

dawn, with animals coming in large numbers to quench their thirst. The activity continues throughout the day until

late at night. In the early evenings, it is not uncommon to have black rhino, elephant and lion all drinking at the same

time.

Day 11: Grootberg Lodge, Palmwag or similar

 

Palmwag

Palmwag is beautifully located along a palm-lined tributary of the Uniab River. Water is scarce in this area, so the

river’s presence often lures elephants closer to the camps. Palmwag is situated halfway between Swakopmund and

Etosha and is the ideal base from which to see the sights of the Kunene region or embark on one of the many local

hiking trails.

Day 12: Madisa Campsite, Twyfelfontein or similar

 

 

Twyfelfontein

Set in the Kunene Region of northwestern Namibia, Twylfelfontein is a spectacularly scenic area, featuring one of the

largest and most important concentrations of rock art in Africa. The name ‘Twyfelfontein’ translates to ‘Fountain of

Doubt’, which refers to the perennial spring situated in the impressive Huab valley flanked by the slopes of a

sandstone table mountain. It was this spring that attracted Stone Age hunters over six thousand years ago, and it

was during this time that the extensive group of rock engravings and paintings were produced. Visitors can look

forward to basing themselves at some wonderfully shady campsites along the Aba-Huab riverbed, while exploring

over thirty different sites of these sacred records of ritual practices relating to traditional hunter-gatherer

communities.

Overnight: Madisa Campsite

Madisa offers 9 private camp sites all with their own ablution facilities. These sites are spacious and are situated on

the river bed with a low stone wall around . Each site has a braai area which doubles up as a donkey geyser for hot

water. It’s a lovely atmosphere to kick back relax around a fire and listen to the nocturnal sou nds of the bush.

Madisa is also a fantastic place for star gazing, the nights are brilliantly clear. Each site has lights which are powered

by generator (hopefully soon by Solar Power).

The generator runs in the evening from sundown till 9pm. We also offe r 5 overland sites which are large and each

have a circle braai area with seating, a wash up basin and water supply. The ablution block is a communal one with

nice clean showers and toilets. The swimming pool and bar area are tucked away at the foot of the spectacular

granite koppie providing a great setting. We have also built the elephants a drinking trough which can be viewed

from on top of the koppie.

Day 13: Swakopmund Sands Hotel, Swakopmund or similar Swakopmund

 

Set along Namibia’s spectacularly scenic coast, the seaside town of Swakopmund is known for its wide -open

avenues, colonial architecture, and is surrounded by otherworldly desert terrain. Founded in 1892 as the main

harbour for German South West Africa, Swakopmund is often described as being more German than Germany. Now

a seaside resort town, Swakopmund is the capital of the Skeleton Coast tourism area and has plenty to keep visitors

happy. The quirky mix of German and Namibian influences, adventure options, laidback atmosphere and cool sea

breeze make it very popular Namibian destination. Visitors can look forward to a number of exciting activities

including: quad biking, horse riding, paragliding, fishing, sightseeing and fascinating desert tours.

The Swakopmund Sands is literary minutes’ walk away from the very popular Jetty and TUG restaurants as well as

other tourist attractions and yet you have total privacy once on the premises of the Hotel. Each room is equipped

laundry service is available for same day delivery.
