We leave Cape Town early this morning and head for the spectacular Clarence Drive on our way to Betty’s bay where we visit Africa’s largest penguin colony.

Next is the charming town of Hermanus known for the world’s best land-based whale watching spot between the months June to December. PS The penguin colony and/or Hermanus might not be possible, all depending on time allocations as per shark dive availability. On arrival at Gansbay (shark capital) we have a meal and prepare for our boat trip to encounter these incredible marine creatures up close. (approx 3 hours)

Our journey continues along the Southern Cape Coast with a stop in Elim, a 19th century Moravian Missionary village and find quaint white cottages with thatched roofs.

We continue to Cape Agulhas the southernmost point of the continent, where the Atlantic and Indian oceans meet, and renowned for ancient Khoisan fish traps and cave middens.

Overnight in Agulhas or Arniston where one can taste authentic Cape cuisine.

The cottages are suitable for children of all ages and you may also bring your pets, by arrangement. There is also so much to do in and around Arniston. You can swim, fish or snorkel on our unspoilt coastline or go for rewarding walks or bicycle rides on the endless shores.

Breakfast in Cape Agulhas, where the two oceans, Atlantic and Indian meet. Time permitting, we visit the Dias museum in Mossel bay and then visit an ancient Khoisan cave where we can lunch on the beach. We then make our way to Botlierskop private game reserve for our 3-hour safari drive lead by a trained safari guide where we encounter the Big 5.

After the safari we continue to the town of Oudtshoorn, which is the capital of the Little Karoo, renowned for its spectacular arid landscapes, fossil finds, succulent desert plants and of course as the Ostrich Capital of the world as well as home to one of the world’s most spectacular cave systems.

We arrive at our guesthouse an awesome ostrich working guest farm and enjoy a deserved break whilst watching a” famous” Karoo sunset.A hearty 3 course home cooked dinner at the farm’s restaurant awaits. Time now to study the solar system, it’s well known that the Karoo offers the best star gazing in the Southern Hemisphere, if not the world.
