Itinerary

Day 1: Windhoek accommodation/International Airport to Greater Windhoek 32.1km

 

Accomodation: Okapuka Ranch, Greater Windhoek/ Similar

Clients will be picked up around 09h00 at the airport or Windhoek accommodation and drive to Greater Windhoek, the landscape of the Greater Windhoek area surrounding this bustling city is characterised by vast valleys, thick scrub, rocky hills, and covered in golden savannah. Visitors can explore the dry riverbeds and mountainous scrublands, as well as enjoy birding, leopard-spotting and view large quantities of wildlife in the north. Upon arrival guest will go on a game drive depending on the time they are picked up; the game drive usually starts at around 15:30.

Located 30 km north of Windhoek, Okapuka Ranch is surrounded by bush. The lodge has an outdoor pool, restaurant and offers game viewing opportunities.

Blending in with the surrounding bush, is the main focus of 18 thatch roofed rooms, set along the edge of the park, while spacious comfort is another. Equipped with ensuite bathroom/ toilet,***** coffee making facilities, bar fridge and open terrace, the rooms provide just that. Additional rooms are situated at the Mountain lodge. Cane furniture and balcony are rendering comfort combined with a spectacular view of the landscape below, gently rolling towards the horizon.

The Park Restaurant offers a variety of specialties; unusual local game dishes, creative starters and naughty desserts – all prepared with the touch of the settlers’ cooking philosophy, and as such, according to recipes handed down from generation to generation. The cozy, candle-lit atmosphere is enhanced by the open fireplace and the dreamlike view of antelope peacefully grazing.

The Hyena Bar offers a noble range of ancient sherries, divine brandies and selected wines. It is pleasure pure, to sit and watch the bush rising towards the mountains, while enjoying a favorite drink – to get together prior to a meal, or afterwards, or simply to relax and enjoy the scenery at any time.


Day 2- Okapuka to Erindi 175.3km

 

Accommodation: Erindi Old Traders Lodge, Erindi Game Reserve or similar

Clients will grab morning breakfast and depart to Erindi from Okapuka. Erindi Game Reserve is located southeast of Omaruru, the Erindi Game Reserve is a spectacularly scenic protected reserve in north-western Namibia. ‘Erindi’, meaning the place of water boasts incredible lush scenery. Stretching over 79000 hectares, this natural wonderland features comfortable accommodation options and magnificent landscapes encompassing grasslands, savannah, and rugged mountains inhabited by an abundance of diverse wildlife. and on arrival clients will check in and get lunch and go on afternoon game drive before.

Erindi Game Reserve is a jewel in the heart of the wild Namibian landscape. The reserve of 70 000ha is situated 40km east of the town of Omaruru. Old Traders Lodge provides the accommodation at Erindi Private Game Reserve. This impressive lodge comprises the main dining room and viewing deck as well as 35 well appointed suites that all have views of a water hole. The spacious suites include; comfortable double or twin single beds with crisp linen and warm blankets, air-conditioning, en-suite bathroom with bath and shower, in-room safe, satellite TV, hairdryers, fridges and kettles. Erindi falls within the Nama Karoo biome and is arid to semi-arid characterized by scattered low dwarf shrubs interspersed with grasslands. Erindi consists of an amazing array of diverse landscapes including mountains, riverine thickets, inselbergs (“island mountains”) and grassland savannahs for as far as the eye can see.


Day 3- Erindi to Otjiwarongo 187.8km

Clients will have morning after breakfast then go on morning game drive before driving to Otjiwarongo – meaning ‘the place of fat cattle’ – is a tranquil, German-influenced town with numerous lodging options, shops and other amenities, making it ideal for a stopover en route to Windhoek, Etosha National Park and the Waterberg Plateau. Points of interest include a good craft market, the Cheetah Conservation Fund and the Crocodile Ranch, where visitors can view these fascinating reptiles and, if they fancy, sample a selection of crocodile meat dishes at the ranch restaurant. Upon arrival guest will visit the cheetah conservancy.

C’est si Bon Hotel’s location in Otjiwarongo makes it ideally situated near Namibia’s northern tourist attractions. Otjiwarongo is approximately 250 km north of Windhoek and is the perfect stopover destination on the way to the Etosha National Park and other tourist destinations in northern Namibia.


Day 4- Otjiwarongo to Etosha National Park 253.4km

 

Accommodation: Halali Campsite, Etosha National Park / similar

Clients are pick up in the Morning at 09:00 am and depart to Etosha and on arrival clients will get lunch and after Lunch, if time permits, enter Etosha for an afternoon game drive. Depending on how often you stop today, On entering the park, the first stop would be Okaukuejo where you pay your entry fee and I suggest you pop in at the local shop to purchase some drinks and snacks and most importantly, a map of Etosha which will show you all the waterholes along the way. Etosha has lions, giraffes, rhinos, zebras, springbok and elephants. This on top of many lesser and common plains herds, and abundant birds makes game viewing in Etosha.

Day 4- Etosha National Park Area

 

Accommodation: Halali Campsite, Etosha National Park / similar

Clients will take early breakfast and then go on the Full day game drive and around 12h00 -13h00 clients will have lunch inside the park and continue with the game drive up till the afternoon and after the game drive guest will have leisure time to enjoy the atmosphere before dinner.

Overnight: Halali Campsite

In an otherwise flat area Halali Campsite is perched between a few hills and koppies. Thicker vegetation makes this popular with leopard, rhino and elephant. Situated halfway between Namutoni and Okaukuejo, the Halali Campsite is centrally located in close proximity of some of the most popular waterholes of the Etosha National Park. A short walk will take you to the camp’s floodlit waterhole with excellent day and night game viewing.

‘Halali’ is the German word for the traditional ending of a hunt. The campsite signifies the end of game hunting and the rise of eco-tourism in Namibia. Halali offers active guests the largest pool in the park and its strategic location between Namutoni and Okaukuejo makes it a great stopover for lunch, ice cream, a cool drink or just petrol.


Day 6- Etosha to Ruacana 413.6km

 

Accommodation: Ruacana Eha Lodge, Ruacana or similar

Clients will grab a nice breakfast, freshen up and drive to Ruacana which is Situated in Namibia’s Omusati Region, near the border with Angola on the banks of the river Kunene, the town of Ruacana is famous for its enthralling Ruacana Falls, and its power station. In the rainy season, the falls can rival Victoria Falls for their majesty. Angola’s Caueque Dam and NamPower’s Ruacana Power Plant lie just upstream. The falls lie at the border, so to visit them, travellers must temporarily leave the country and enter Angola’s territory by signing an immigration register. After arrival clients will check in and have leisure time around the lodge.

Day 7: Ruacana Area

 

Accommodation: Ruacana Eha Lodge, Ruacana or similar

This morning clients will grab early breakfast and depart via Ruacana Waterfalls into the Kaokoland. Travel all along the Kunene river. Make numerous stops to see the Himba people living near the river. Travel via Okonguati to Epupa to arrive by noon. Check in at this oasis on the banks of the Kunene river, which forms the border with Angola, the neighbouring country to the North. Guest will do a walking trail to the falls during the afternoon.

Go on top of the hill (viewpoint) to see the river and falls from above and enjoy a sundowner for great photos.

Ruacana Eha Lodge in northern Namibia is a natural gateway to the wonders of the Kaokoveld, the Etosha National Park, the Epupa falls and the vibrant African culture of the Omusati, Oshana, Ohangwena and Oshikoto regions.

This glittering oasis in the rugged landscapes, offers relaxation, conferencing and opportunity to come face-to-face with forgotten Africa. The rooms are all en-suite and have their own private verandahs, additional facilities include an air conditioner, tea & coffee facilities, TV (6 channels) and a fridge.


Day 8: Ruacana to Epupa Falls 318km

 

Accommodation: Epupa Falls Lodge, Epupa Falls or similar

Early Morning breakfast and visit one of the Himba Villages in the wild, about 20 km from Epupa Waterfalls. Epupa Falls which is situated in the Kaokoland area of Namibia, Epupa Falls is set near the border of Angola. Named by the Herero people after the spray it creates, Epupa means ‘water falling. The falls consists of a series of little waterfalls created by the Kunene River as it drops 60 metres, creating hundreds of natural pools that provide the Himba people and visitors with a fantastic recreation spot.

Overnight: Epupa Falls Lodge

Visitors descending on the Kunene River are welcomed by a lush oasis of Makalani palms and Baobab trees and the Epupa Falls appear quite unexpectedly as a spectacular surprise!. Watching the numerous waterfalls from the Sundowner Hill on a late afternoon, while sipping a glass of wine, one is encouraged to stay for more than only a night. In the evening the singing, clapping and dancing of local people adds to the murmur of the river. During the early morning hours, the fish eagle’s call reminds visitors that they are indeed in Africa.


Day 9: Epupa Falls to Opuwo 179.3km

 

Accommodation: Namib Desert Lodge Gondwana Collection Namibia, Sossusvlei or Similar

Guest will wake up and have breakfast before going into the park for Sossuvlei Excursion which includes Dune 45, Deadvlei, Hiddenvlei, and Big Daddy. The tour guide will have regular stops to let clients take pictures and have some exposure of the Dunes. Guest will be back around lunch time and will have some leisure time for themselves at the pool.

These campsites are located under acacia trees on the bank of a dry riverbed and offer beautiful views of the ‘fossilized’ dunes of the primeval Namib. They are equipped with electricity, water, grill area and windbreak and share several communal bathroom facilities. Just a few minutes’ drive from the road to Sesriem, this camping site is ideally suited for nature lovers who want to experience Sossusvlei and at the same time love the silent starlit nights of the Namib Desert.


Day 10- Opuwo to Twyfelfontein 345km

 

Accommodation: Twyfelfontein Country Lodge, Twyfelfontein or similar

Clients will depart in the morning to Twyfelfontein which is Set in the Kunene Region of northwestern Namibia, Twylfelfontein is a spectacularly scenic area, featuring one of the largest and most important concentrations of rock art in Africa. The name ‘Twyfelfontein’ translates to ‘Fountain of Doubt’, which refers to the perennial spring situated in the impressive Huab valley flanked by the slopes of a sandstone Table Mountain. Upon arrival clients will visit to the White Lady Paintings.

Day 11: Twyfelfntein to Swakopmund 330.9km

Guest will eat breakfast and depart to Swakopmund early around 09:00 along the beautiful landscape to the coastal side of Namibia. It’s about 5 hours’ drive to Swakopmund. Once clients have arrived in Swakopmund they will go for their activity (Quad biking activity) which is about a 2-hour drive. After the activity Other optional activities can be done like Skydiving, Sandwich habour, kayaking, desert tour. Clients can also visit the beach

Day 12: Swakopmund Area

Guest will get early Breakfast and then visit to the Museum and from there onwards do a City Tour. Then have leisure time to visit craft centres and do some shopping in town.

Guest will depart in the morning after breakfast to Sossusvlei, before proceeding they will have a stop in Walvis Bay and visit to the lagoon (Pink Flamingos) then continue their journey to Sossusvlei. Clients can have their lunch at sessriem around 12h00-13h00. After arrival guest will have leisure time before going on a Sundowner drive to dunes around 17h30 or 18h00.

Day 14– Sossuvlei / Sesriem Area

The 28 affordable self-catering accommodation units are equipped with an en-suite bathroom, shaded veranda with a fitted kitchenette, barbeque, power points and an adjacent parking area. Day 15: Sossusvlei To Fish River Canyon 553km

Clients will get morning Breakfast and depart to Fish River Canyon Carving out an epic rocky wonderland in the south of Namibia, the Fish River has created Africa’s largest and the world’s second largest canyon. Hot, dry and stony, the Fish River Canyon measures a whopping 160 kilometres in length, at times 27 kilometres in width and 550 metres in depth. The awe-inspiring natural beauty of this ancient geological marvel draws visitors from around the globe. After arrival guest will go on afternoon walking trail to a viewpoint for sunset drinks.

Day 17: Fish River To Mariendal 426km

Clients will get morning Breakfast and depart to Mariental which is located close to magnificent the Hardap Dam, which is the largest reservoir in Namibia. The Hardap Irrigation Scheme has breathed life into this arid terrain, which is now fertile with farmlands covered in citrus, melons, lucerne, wine and maize, and dotted with ostrich farms. After checking in clients will do a Sunset Drive.
