Itinerary
DAY 1: MPUMALANGA DRAKENSBERG, PANORAMA ROUTE

Panorama Route
The Panorama Route is one of the most beautiful parts of South Africa connecting the Lowveld and the amazing geological features of the Mpumalanga Drakensberg.
One of the major highlights of the region is the Blyde River Canyon Reserve, the third largest canyon of its kind in the world and home to spectacular wildlife and birdlife.
Other highlights include the breathtaking waterfalls in Graskop and Sabie, Lisbon and Berlin Falls, Gods Window and the Gold Rush territory, Pilgrim’s Rest, home to the early gold prospectors.
Overnight: Mpumalanga Drakensberg
The majestic Drakensburg mountain range stretches for roughly 1000 kilometres across Africa’s southern reaches, taking in Mpumalanga and Kwa-Zulu Natal provinces in South Africa, as well as the independent kingdom of Lesotho, on its way. That section of the Drakensburg that falls into Mpumalanga features a number of highlights, most are which are incorporated into the Panorama Route. The most spectacular section of this drive is arguably Blyde River Canyon, a deep gorge that features a series of bizarre potholes carved into the rock by whirlpools carrying sand and stones, and terminates at the aptly named Three Rondavels, a series of three rounded mountain peaks reminiscent of traditional circular South African huts. Just north of the canyon is God’s Window, where a sharp drop in elevation opens up the cliff face to allow magnificent views over the lush lowveld. Also of interest in the Mpumalanga Drakenburg are the historical towns of Pilgrim’s Rest and Sabie.
DAY 2: KRUGER PARK LODGE, HAZYVIEW

Hazyview
Surrounded by subtropical fruit orchards, Hazeyview is a small farming town and a gateway to the southern part of the Kruger National Park and the Panorama Escarpment. The town and its spectacularly scenic surroundings serve as a popular adventure capital with a remarkable array of exhilarating outdoor activities on offer to suit all ages, tastes and fitness levels. These include, among others: mountain biking, quad biking, ziplining, tubing, abseiling, and river rafting. Whether you are eager to hike the Panarama Route with its breathtaking views and impressive waterfalls, visit the Shangana Cultural Village, or horse ride along the banks of the magnificent Sabie River, Hazyview has something for just about everyone.
Overnight: Kruger Park Lodge
Tucked away between miles of untamed bushveld lies an oasis of lush green lawns, flowing water and all the luxuries of a gracious lifestyle. It’s called the Kruger Park Lodge. Built on the banks of the picturesque Sabie River and surrounded by indigenous gardens abundant with bird life, impala and hippo, the lodge has something for everyone. Enjoy long walks along our nature trail, relax around one of our three swimming pools or, better still, rise to the challenges offered by our 9 hole Gary Player designed golf course.
DAY 3: GRATEFUL GUEST HOUSE, BLOEMFONTEIN

Bloemfontein
Commercial centre and capital city of the Free State, as well as South Africa’s Judicial Capital, Bloemfontein is affectionately known among locals as the “City of Roses”. This friendly, peaceful and clean environment lies at the heart of South Africa where the country’s main road, rail and air links meet.
Overnight: Grateful Guest House
njoy comfortable and adequate country-style accommodation at Grateful Guest House. Situated in Bloemfontein / Mangaung (Central South Africa), and a couple of minutes from the N1, puts this Guest House / Overnight Establishment at a half way point for most guests who travel from one point to another in South Africa. Peaceful, spacious and very quiet, and still be close to all that Bloemfontein has to offer.
Our 3 Roomed Unit is versatile and can be adjusted to your needs. Whether you need an affordable romantic getaway, family unit with room for privacy, business or study setup to get some work done, or a touring group looking for a stop over. Enquire about our bush-camp / caravan / campsites.
DAY 4: COZI CORNER SELF-CATERING, EASTERN CAPE

Eastern Cape
As South Africa’s ‘wild’ province, the Eastern Cape features magnificent stretches of untouched beach, peaceful river estuaries, lush forests, breathtaking mountain vistas, and the arid Karoo Desert landscape. Nelson Mandela Bay (Port Elizabeth) serves as the province’s primary commercial and industrial centre as well as a gateway to the popular Garden Route where visitors can enjoy ancient forest walks, surfing in the world-renowned surf spot of Jeffrey’s Bay, and even bungee jumping from world’s highest bridge bungy above the Bloukrans River. Beyond the Garden route lie some spectacular malaria-free wildlife reserves including the remarkable Addo Elephant National Park, now the only place in South Africa where you can see the Big Seven – elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo, leopard, whale and shark. Don’t miss the Wild Coast region which, as it is far less developed than the rest of South Africa, offers visitors a glimpse of rural African village life. For travellers seeking an authentic, off-the-beaten-track, African experience, the Eastern Cape makes an unforgettable vacation getaway.
